SNOW CRAFT 2

The Snowcraft 2 course is intended for mountaineers who are already familiar with ice axe, crampons, and avalanche safety equipment. You should already have at least 5 or more quality days experience with basic mountaineering (e.g. grade 1 or 2 peaks), but wish to undertake more grade 2-3 peaks.

The course refreshes avalanche awareness and self arrest, and focuses on basic rope work including rock and snow anchors, abseiling, travel on steep snow, as well as introducing glacier travel and crevasse rescue techniques.

Basic rock climbing skills are recommended before attending this course: abseiling, lead belaying, lead climbing.

Not at all suitable for absolute beginners. 

Prerequisites:

• Participants must have used ice axe and crampons before
• 5+ days of basic mountaineering experience
• Basic rock climbing skills – belaying, abseiling, lead climbing
